Hitched!

It’s not often we get to do a wedding for one of our own – never mind two of our own!

GG Wedding planner Victoria Sorensen and Assistant Chef Tim Mueller took that long awaited walk down the aisle this weekend. Surrounded by their family, friends and co-workers Tim and Victoria exchanged vows at their garden nuptials in the amazing Eugene O’Neil Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut. Victoria was stunning in her champagne Rivini gown and plum Pradas - GORGEOUS! Tim, handsome as ever, gazed at his mate of some 9 years (yep – high school sweethearts) like there had never been a more beautiful woman in the world.
Guests were greeted with a champagne tasting that even included the champagne of beers, and then mingled in the sunken garden sneaking peeks at the couple taking pictures across the field. After the ceremony we were treated to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the grand White House on the center grounds. We nibbled on oysters and shrimp at the raw bar, indulged in imported meats and cheeses from the antipasti table and sampled miniature lamb chops and lobster rolls passed by attentive staff.

Dinner and dancing were held in the rustic barn beautifully transformed from a rough work space into a romantic and intimate haven. Our meal was a compilation of the bride and groom’s favorite foods including roasted chicken, shrimp saganaki, chicken tortellini and caesar salad. Waiters passed creamy mousse shots as we danced the night away and topped off the evening with a nod to Victoria’s childhood – perfect Funfetti cupcakes just like mom used to make!

We could go on forever about the details (and you bet we will in later posts). Sweet, personal – PERFECT! My favorite part, a personal note written to each guest, sealed and waiting quietly at your dinner place. It was a special day for two of the most special people we know. Thanks for letting us be part of it!

Don’t worry – we’ve included a few pictures so you won’t feel left out…

Food Stroll... Take a Walk Down the Aisle

We love the Food Stroll. Don't know about it? Well you SHOULD! It happens twice a year, in the early Spring and mid-Fall in Downtown New London. In years past the stroll has attracted over 1,000 people to walk the streets in downtown and sample the fares of local restaurants and, ahem, catering establishments. We set up shop at the Crocker House, and always look forward to developing our 'theme' for the event.

Well, this year we've got something super special in mind! Food Stroll will take on a very personal tone this coming Wednesday May 13th for the creative minds here at Gourmet Galley. Two of our very own employees - Victoria Sorensen (Weddings Coordinator) and Timothy Mueller (Sous Chef) are tying the knot on May 16th! So, what better way for us to celebrate our first GG family nuptials than with a dream wedding -and you're all invited!

You'll walk down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon, sip champagne for the toast, and even meet the bride and groom! Mingle in the courtyard and sample scrumptious hors d'ouevres. Experience the elegant Crocker House Ballroom while feasting on miniature versions of classic wedding fare.

And end your evening with a slice of - you guessed it - the perfect wedding cake!
Food Stroll takes place on Wednesday May 13th from 5:30 to 8:30 in downtown New london and features over two dozen of The District's finest restaurants, bistros, and cafes. Admission buttons are $25 in advance and $30 on Stroll day. For more information contact New London Main Street.

To Pre-Purchase tickets (which we highly recommend!), click here.
If you can make it, the Food Stroll is certainly worth the trip. Hope to see you there!
And please, no gifts!

A Beautiful Bride and Groom

Well, now that May is upon us, it is officially wedding season. We had our first wedding of the
year this past weekend at one of our favorite venues, Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park. We consider ourselves very lucky that we seem to have the nicest, sweetest clients around, and this week's bride and groom are no exception! Nicole and Matias have got
to be one of the most down to earth couples we've ever had the pleasure of catering for, and their wedding day was truly special. We've got a few bits of eye candy from the super-talented Carla Ten Eyck for you to enjoy.
