It's Party Time!

On October 19th, the ultimate party in the wedding world is happening - Martha Stewart Weddings is turning 15! The party is being held at the Plaza in New York {perfect spot, of course} and Style Me Pretty gave away two tickets to an extremely lucky reader. We are sitting here in CT wishing that we were either catering the party or guests of course.

Whatever you do - go! {Easier said then done, of course}

Can't wait to read all about this one - We'll be checking the blogs the next morning for sure.

Also - Check out this month's issue of the magazine. The DIY section has some GREAT stuff in it. They offer templates that you can download on your computer to design place cards, favors, etc. Everything, right at your fingertips!

Lights, Camera - Your Wedding!

On Sunday, September 6th we had the distinct pleasure to be a part of a sublime and glorious day - The Marriage of JC and Esther. They were married at Saltwater Farms in Stonington, Ct (one of our favorites to work at), had Justin + Mary capture the day (you have to check out their site - you'll be blown away), and had Power Posse Productions entertain the guests (DJ Doug is amazing and you'll be shocked at what he can do).

While perusing Justin and Mary's site last night, we came across their entry about JC and Esther in their blog. Let's just say....Whoa. Can you believe this? We felt like we were watching a trailer for "JC and Esther - The Movie". We're dying to knowwhat happens next! Luckily, they're a great couple, and will keep us up to date.

Stillmotion was there to capture everything from a surprise engagement book to Esther before the wedding, JC and his crew relaxing before the event, the vows, the best man speech - everything. The attention to detail and the personality of the couple coming through just make the entire video that much more meaningful. Stillmotion captured the essence of a wedding perfectly.

Even more excitement came this morning when we opened up the ole' Google Reader (to catch up on the morning review of all things wedding blog) to find that Maggie Conley, one of our most favorite ladies in the business, just had an engagement shoot with a couple - George and Jamie - over at Jonathan Edwards Winery and they were also filmed! The style is quite different then the video above - but equally as delightful. Mike Cyr over at Buzz Media was there to share in the shoot with Maggie. We're completely in love with the music, the vintage photography style, and the flow of the shots together.

It's amazing what you can do for your wedding day to help preserve the memories and the feelings. Every time that JC and Esther look back on that - they're going to be taken right back to that day, that moment where they started their lives together. We can't wait to see more of these great videos from bride and grooms to come!

Kitchen Tools that Care

There isn't one person that hasn't been touched by cancer. Our family, friends, co-workers, mailmen, guy that made your lunch, woman that rang out at the mall - Everyone has unfortunately been tangled into the web of the illness. One of the worst cases hitting the women in our lives is Breast Cancer. October, or what we like to refer to as "Pinktober" is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

While persuing Bon Appetit last night, we came across some "Pink" ways to support the fight against the evil that is the sickness. Check out some affordable ways to add color to your kitchen and to help support the cause that is going to keep the women in our life alive and well for many years to come. I really love the Riedel Crescendo Pink Wine Glasses - we can think of a few people who would be delighted to receive these as gifts just for the pure fact of the pink! You can pick up a lot of the Pink for the Cure products at Kohl's - Jeanette is going to be picking up the measuring cups and spoons (because hers have apparently grown legs and disappeared). They also have a toaster, a coffee maker, mixing bowls, food processor - and well...The list just keeps going on.

Gourmet Galley sends our love and wishes to all of those (especially you, Linda Milligan!) who are fighting right now. This is one war that we are going to win - we're not going to give up.

Monday Brought Sad News

While scanning the headlines on The Business Insider this morning, we was struck with shock and awe when the following headline popped out:

Gourmet Magazine Toast As Conde Nast Frantically Cuts Costs

Looks like food is taking a hit just as much as everyone else.

They'll continue to run Epicurious.com (phew - not sure what panic that might have caused in the kitchen here), their book publishing and television programming efforts. Bon Appetit will continue along as normal, so no worries there.

That's not the only sad news this article brings us this morning - Modern Bride and Elegant Bride are being discontinued as well. Conde Nast is going to push the resources from those two publications into Brides. Right now, each title is still available online. Get on there now before it's too late - they have some great ideas and a few blogs that are worth checking out - see Wedded Bits.

Sad, sad day in the world of food. Another reality check - Just when we though that things were starting to settle down and the economy was going to turn around sooner rather then later, we're shot back to the realization that things aren't still aren't doing well out there. At least at last check this morning the DOW was up over 88 points.
